Suprabha Seshan is a rainforest conservationist and environmental educator who has lived and worked for 28 years in the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary (GBS), in Wayanad, Kerala. GBS is a forest garden and conservation centre devoted to community based ecological nurturance. The Sanctuary is known for its conservation of native Western Ghat plant species, and its commitment to rainforest gardening as a strategy to restore native habitat. On behalf of GBS Suprabha won the 2006 Whitley award, UK’s top environment prize, also known as the Green Oscar. She writes for various leading publications and is an Ashoka Fellow.
