Mrunmayee Shivapurkar

Translator, India

Mrunmayee Shivapurkar has done a Master’s degree in German, and teaches at GI Pune.  Her visits to Germany as a DAAD/Goethe scholar have helped her to gain a new perspective towards the foreign culture; which ultimately leads to an enriched understanding of her own! She regularly translates literary texts into Marathi. Franz Kafka’s short stories, Goethe’s poems, a play by Max Frisch “Biedermann..” and many contemporary plays like “ich lieb dich”. She greatly values cultural exchanges, be they through classroom teaching, travelling, theatre or dance. The recent collaboration with GI Mumbai has acted as a catalyst towards her creativity and has broadened her horizons.
