Millennial Minds

  • Saturday, 20th Nov
  • 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm IST

“Love and work,” said Freud, “are the cornerstones of our humanness.” Yet finding fulfilment in these two spheres has never been easy, and every age has its special challenges. In her imaginative satire, Temporary, Hilary Leichter tells the story of a millennial woman in the US lurching from one bizarre job to the next and juggling multiple boyfriends as she confronts the gig economy of late capitalism. Vivan Marwaha, meanwhile, uses non-fiction to try to understand the desires and struggles of India’s Gen Y, in What Millennials Want: Decoding the Largest Generation in the World.

Hilary Leichter

Hilary Leichter teaches fiction at Columbia University. Her novel Temporary which examines the vagaries of the gig economy,  has been nominated for several awards.
